So, I mentioned that Egypt is on my bucket list...I guess the next question is why the interest? To be quite honest, it all started with a teacher that I had in highschool. What should have been an Ancient Civilizations course ended up being a course on Egyptian History and Mythology - I was hooked. Who wouldn't be? Pharaohs, gods, Cleopatra - so much drama with everyone and everything so interconnected. It was was more interesting then the Young and the Restless - it was real and romantic and so completely foreign to me. Even death seemed so interesting and mystical...I was awed by the Eyptian Pyramids, the landscape of the country, and the camels!!
Over the years, as I have done more research, I realize that Egypt boasts much more than just desert landscapes, and pyramids. Sharm el-Sheikh has sandy beaches, year-round sunshine, amazing diving and balmy temperatures (which in the middle of winter are all that much more appealing!). I would love to visit the Red Sea , take a tour down the Nile River, experience the thrills of Cairo and, of course, ride a camel...
Hopefully one day I'll be able to say that I've "been there and done that, but until then, here's to dreaming....
